Application for Repairs
Our Mission is to eliminate sub-standard housing. RTCC helps homeowners when they are not physically or economically able to make needed repairs themselves. The primary goal is to create a home with improved safety, warmth and dignity. By using volunteer laborers, RTCC is able to quadruple the value of every dollar donated.
RTCC uses donations of money and building materials to make essential repairs, such as:
- replacing leaky roofs
- installing new furnaces and water heaters
- weatherproofing doors and windows
- fixing plumbing problems
- painting, cleaning, and clearing yard waste
- building handicap-accessible ramps
Rebuilding Day occurs on the first Saturday in October each year. What transpires on that day is truly a remarkable experience for all who are involved. Not only are homes revived, but so too are the lives of the homeowners and volunteers alike.
How It Works
Through an open application process, hundreds of homeowners are screened by volunteers who:
- Interview applicants to make the final selections.
- Set the scope of repairs.
- Match homeowners with teams of general and skilled volunteers.
- Work in October on the identified home repairs.
All repairs are done free of charge to the homeowners. Homeowners and their families fully participate in the repair process, as they are able.
To be eligible for consideration in the Rebuilding Day program:
- Applicants must own and live in their own home and have neither the resources nor the ability to do the work themselves.
- Homes must be insured under a homeowner’s policy.
- Applicants must meet income eligibility guidelines.
- Priority is given to homeowners who are elderly and disabled.
- Applicants must be a resident in Clay County, MO.
